Sophia is working on the isolation of rare intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) from mouse retinas. She hopes to use this protocol to conduct downstream studies that investigate the mechanisms that allow ipRGCs to uniquely survive neurodegeneration in Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy.
